Margaret's home page

Hello, my name is Margaret.

I joined Viñuela Sew and Sews two weeks before Easter, and was invited to join group members at their Spring Lunch, where I was able to meet fellow stitchers and knitters.  I share my time between my home here in Andalucia and the UK, spending the winter months in Spain and the summer in England, although now it's almost time to return to the UK I'd like to stay here longer as I really enjoy coming to the group meetings every week.  I enjoy many stitch related hobbies including cross stitch, Hardanger, blackwork and knitting, and have recently been taught to crochet by fellow group member Joyce.  I remember being taught to knit by my Grandmother, but we never got round to crochet so I'm thrilled that after all these years I have now learnt the technique.  I once made a quilt in the grandmother's fan style, made from hundreds of hexagons utilising all sorts of fabrics I could find, dress fabrics, remnants etc, but did not finish it in the way quilts are now made with batting and backing fabric.  My mother suggested making it into the top of a duvet cover with a sheet for the other side.  The quilt was used for years, with my daughter recently telling me she used to play on her bed at night matching up the colours and fabrics.

I look forward to many more Tuesday sessions where I enjoy meeting like minded ladies and seeing all the lovely work produced each week.
