Hi, my name is Jenny
Since a child I have enjoyed textiles with an enquiring mind as to the history of textiles from around the globe, especially any fabrics and fibres with a tactile feel.
My main interest is in Textiles and Fibre Art, developing and making 3-dimensional containers and vessels in fabric and fibre as well as unique wall pieces. I enjoy making my own
felt from sheep's wool, machine embroidery, dyeing fabric, screen-printing and quilting, combining all or some of these techniques in my work.
I moved to Ireland in 1994 and whilst living there, I studied a City and Guilds stitched textile course in Patchwork and Quilting, receiving my diploma in 2008.
I moved to Spain in 2008, near the village of Sedella and now have the time and opportunity to further develop my ideas and techniques, along with the opportunity to pass on my
knowledge by giving workshops and individual tuition on various techniques. If you are looking to purchase my work, or having lessons, workshops (or group tuition), in patchwork and
quilting, felt making, or dyeing fabric please contact me at jennysedella@gmail.com
My latest work "Felt and Mixed Media Art" is my interpretation from aerial views of the earth. A continuing series of work where inspiration has been taken from views from above
whilst in my travels, of mountains, islands and land masses.
This unique range of work is due to the combination of both natural and man-made fibres and materials, a reflection on the progress of man and materials since the industrial
revolution.
Since living in Spain and experiencing the changing colours reflecting off the mountains, the use of colours has become more important in my work.
