Tulips Charity Quilt 2010

We have borrowed and modified the design and layout of a quilt from Dawn Cameron-Dick for one of our charity quilts this year, which will be raffled at our autumn exhibition.  A lovely fabric range has been found for the tulips, which had a colour Charity cheque presentationgraded from light to dark across the width of the fabric, meaning that no two tulips would be exactly the same in any block.  The Seminole sashing sets off the tulips well against their cream on cream background.  Variegated embroidery thread has been used to machine-appliqué the flower wreaths and it is intended to quilt the background with stipple free-motion quilting.  Work is progressing and photo's of the work will be published as the quilt grows.

Jan Kath and I went along to visit the Anne-Axarquia charity facility on to present the beneficiaries with the money collected from the raffle which took place at our Exhibition in October 2010.  Photographs can be seen below.  The beneficiaries were thrilled with the 1,200 Euros donated to their organisation and posed happily to have their photographs taken.  Before we left they presented us with some plants that they had grown themselves in their gardening workshops as a thankyou for our generosity.  So once again, thanks to everyone who bought tickets for this worthy cause.  See below for more photographs of the presentation.
