About us
We are a growing group of stitching enthusiasts who meet up on a
weekly basis to stitch and improve our techniques and knowledge.
Originally known as "Periana Stitchers" we started the group in early 2007 and met in Jan's house in Periana. When we outgrew her room, we renamed ourselves to reflect the new larger venue at La Viñuela, Andalucia, Spain, in a hall generously provided to us by the Ayuntamiento.
Group members enjoy various types of needlecrafts and meetings are currently held weekly on Tuesdays.

What we do
We hold regular workshops, where members share their skills by
teaching others in new techniques, which seem mainly to revolve
around patchwork and quilting, but have also covered silk flower
embroidery and machine embroidery, and we have plans for more
diverse activities in the pipeline such as fabric dyeing and
painting . See some of our past workshops.
As part of our regular meetings, we participate as a group in
making quilts which are donated to local charities including
Cudeca (a cancer care charity) and
CAS (an animal charity) to be raffled to raise funds for those charities, usually making these
to coincide with events around Christmas time. Ann Stamp
usually drives these projects along once the decision has been made on a
quilt design and most members make a block or two, Ann usually collates
them, and makes up the quilts. Often various members add the
quilting or sew the binding. See our Charity quilts HERE.
In 2008 we successfully held our first exhibition, with a special quilt being made to raise funds for a local children's charity Anne-Axarquia. The Viñuela Mayor presented the funds raised, to a representative and beneficiaries of the charity, in front of local TV cameras in the Mancomunidad Rooms in Torre del Mar, and a report appeared in the Costa del Sol News. A report of the exhibition and photographs can be seen HERE.
We are currently planning our 2nd exhibition, to be held in October 2010.
